There is storm inside the mother of Stephen Wilhelm

The following is the full review (in a slightly reduced output in the Journal of Vicenza, 19 August 2010) I wrote the last collection of poems of Stephen Wilhelm.

Fabio Giaretta

Among the many poets, or those self-styled, now active in the Northeast, the Wilhelm Stefano Schio is certainly among the most talented and knowledgeable. It is a further confirmation of his new poetry collection, There storm inside the mother (The spinning wheel, pp. 56, € 11) in which the author comes to terms with our present. The storm of the title alludes to the fact the economic crisis and the crisis of values that has swept through of what Wilhelm calls the "mother". This term refers to the body in which we are engaged in the womb, now sick, that keeps us alive, we determined and from which we can not get out. The aim of the author becomes so that, as Cristina Annino writes in the preface, to "investigate reasonably real life collapses when." A survey compassionate and cruel at the same time, which is divided in 39 short but very dense texts, in which the poet describes the reality that surrounds us proceed to splinters and fragments, using images, thanks to their originality and strength polysemic, avoid the trap of cliché and banality. The verses, to join the world that is degraded descritto, si fanno asciutti e disadorni.
Di giorno segue in modo implacabile la logica del profitto ed è animato da un delirio of absolute control that leads him to say "I am the Lord my God / hairpin in the world." He is driven by a sense of masculine superiority, well represented by the image of phallic "branch", which often touches through his pockets as if to remind himself constantly to his power. Cain is born of a twin pregnancy that "establishes rules and city districts make. / Would like gardens around, but it craters, and when open, tears."
At night, however, becomes more vulnerable, "before going to sleep, pray Abel / not to leave." When darkness falls creeps in fact the worm of doubt and open up glimpses of larval torment and melancholy awareness that the storm seems to quiet down. He then perceived that what he built based on a "solid top and no where life hums." When you think of death all his life shaken: "do not fear death because sharecropping. After dinner, then / let the worms on the plate and gives the rest. He prefers / shop: give and take, buy. But death is a mouth / priceless, a cyst that goes in heat once the brushes. / when he touches it, the whole mother trembles. " But they are only brief moments, intended to evaporate with the dawn.
At a deeper level of reading the master's, however, becomes a kind of plural ego that embraces everyone, because we are all children of the Western system, its logic and its storture.

Build A Collapsible Wall

Carte di Bordo

The territory explored by creative overview expands the series with ship's papers.
brainchild of Anthony Taylor and curated by Paolo Pavan, the series is dedicated to micro-artists, architects, poets, events and Venetian landscapes. The publishing program includes a development in twenty-six small volumes, to document a "primer" creative in our area. The volumes are coordinated with exhibitions and happenings taking place at the shop / art galleries Illimité, in Mestre. Each volume will have more than a nature documentary of the happenings, a project autonomy: they themselves are, in fact, created as art objects, as their circulation limitata (cento copie) permette di fondere i caratteri più evoluti della stampa digitare con l’intervento ad arte sul volume, tale da dimensionarlo come pezzo unico.

La mostra rimarrà open until the end of August (except for the festive closing of the store).

The program will resume in September with an exhibition of photographs by Toni Lovison, focused on Walls, which opens Friday, September 10 at 18:00. Photographs of Toni Lovison portray snapshots of contemporary urban landscapes, emphasizing color and movement forms. The exhibition will then remain open until Oct. 2.

In the following months, is expected to be present Camillo Bianchi (architect), Luca Schiavon (ceramicist), Alberta Life (designer, goldsmith), Piervirginio Zambon (architects, video makers, designers), Floriana Rigo (architect, sculptor), Andrea Pardini (painter) Piero Brombin (architect and designer), Alberto Andrian (architectural photographer), Paolo Pavan (architect, designer), these are joined by other artists in the months ahead.
The program is being defined: further communication will follow in order to specify dates and their related events.

Anniversary For Coworker

undermine the strength of the "Breviary of November" by Alessandra Conte Interview with Yang Lian

"Breviario di novembre" (Raffaelli Editore, 56 pp., 12 euro) della Vicenza Alessandra Conte is a debut that stands for completeness and expressive power. No coincidence that this interesting collection of poems was awarded the Prize Guido Gozzano 2009.
The breviary, in the Catholic liturgy, is a book containing the Divine Office that the church must play at different times of day. Even the poems of the Earl of prayers can be considered, but of a very particular way. They, like Stephen Wilhelm writes in the preface, are both "pious invocation and raving blasphemous, and blasphemy of sacred music." The tones can range from a reassuring and enveloping maternal tenderness until you come to a vigorous and violent destructive fury.
In questa duplicità riscontrabile in suora/bambola is present throughout the core of the book that wants to restore life and complexity embalmed and deities now too stiff. The Count seeks to undermine the very idea of religion, seen too often as a raft of asphyxial precepts and dogmas, which empty the relationship with the sacred, emphasizing the sense of guilt, fear, distrust for what is earthly and bodily . Heaven and earth are reunited. Nun doll test so to build a new Theogony, which rejects a vision of masculine and authoritarian God and that through the wild and invigorating look feminine element force to overcome any alphabet, so any class, gender, time and space, any stiffening.
Dio può entity even become fragile, vulnerable, in need of care, which must be recast the features: "The god of courage is dead / rolling in the bank. At the bottom, / is reborn without memories, but / with broken fingers bruised face. O God, you do not know what happened. / Die really sleep. / Die you awake, sleep policing ". Rolling the slope of clichés, God can return to popular everywhere, remain intimately close to man even in the most mundane daily: "Now that you and sometimes your kingdoms kingdoms soffiaci / a little in front of you that your reign kingdoms / preparaci dinner. "
